About Me - GAD123

My photo
Belfast, N.I., United Kingdom
I first got on the net over 15 (2009) years ago and have had my own site for at least 7 (2009) of those years (a place where I could dump the misery of my everyday life!), you can see my fist efforts @ www.freewebs.com/gad123 and my current blog @ www.gad123.co.uk . I am a kind person, smart, (I know that is subjective) and witty, the dry, sarcastic type! I am told that I am easy to talk to and am very laid back. I enjoy playing poker, listening to any music, watching movies & American TV shows, love going to the pub, dancing on a Saturday night and am a bit of a nerd as I own a Wii, PS3 and built my own PC! I am a creature of routine, love the night time when all the exciting things happen, am a bit of an insomniac and love getting trashed at the weekends! If you want, you can catch me on MSN @ graham@gad123.co.uk! Take care and enjoy you browse around this GAD123 Page!

The Song I Am Currently Learning...

To bolster that Friday feeling here are the lyrics to the best song around at the moment, its Bloc Party and Two More Years. Have a good one folks!

In two more years, my sweetheart, we will see another view
such longing for the past for such completion
What was once golden has now turned a shade of grey
I've become crueller in your presence

They say: 'be brave, there's a right way and a wrong way'
This pain won't last for ever, this pain won't last for ever

Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years, there's only two more years
Two more years so hold on

You've cried enough this lifetime, my beloved polar bear
Tears to fill a sea to drown a beacon
To start anew all over, remove those scars from your arms
To start anew all over more enlightened

I know, my love, this is not the only story you can tell
This pain won't last for ever, this pain won't last for ever

Two more years...

You don't need to find answers for questions never asked of you
You don't need to find answers

Dead weights and balloons
Drag me to you
Dead weights and balloons
To sleep in your arms
I've become crueller since I met you
I've become rougher, this world is killing me

We cover our lies with handshakes and smiles
We try to remember our alibis
We tell lies to our parents he hide in their rooms
We bury our secrets in the garden
Of course we could never make this love last
I said of course we could never make this love last
The only love we know is love for ourselves
We bury our secrets in the garden

This Rocks...

I have been up to my eyes in work therefore not much to write about and not much going on with me but you could check out the photos I have taken this week by clicking HERE! Anyway on with the show, I think this is so cool, check it out:

A gamer has paid $100,000 for a virtual space resort in the massive multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Project Entropia. Mindark, the Swedish developer of the game, sold off the 'real estate' in a 3-day auction.

Project Entropia, is available as a free download and relies on the sales of virtual goods for real world currencies. The game sells tools and weapons that players use in the game for Project Entropia Dollars (PEDs). One US dollar equals 10 PEDs. Items such as a 'Lesser Teleport Chip' go for 40.59 PEDs and a 'GarcenLubricant' costs 24.39 PEDs.

The $100,000 sale of the space real estate beats the game's previous record of $26,500 for a virtual island. The space station comes with a 1,000 unit apartment complex, a shopping mall, sports stadium and night club.

Project Entropia claims to have had registered 299,359 players since its inception in 2002. They have created a collective economy of $150m so far this year, the game's maker claims.

Lyrics and Things...

This would be the best thing to happen in F1 but unfortunately it's only a dream. Click here and here to find out what I am talking about!

I have rediscovered this song, it means so much to me I just have to post the Lyrics.

Billy Bragg - A New England

I was twenty one years when I wrote this song
I'm twenty two now, but I won't be for long
People ask when will you grow up to be a man
But all the girls I loved at school
Are already pushing prams

I loved you then as I love you still
Tho I put you on a pedestal,
They put you on the pill
I don't feel bad about letting you go
I just feel sad about letting you know

I don't want to change the world
I'm not looking for a new England
I'm just looking for another girl
I don't want to change the world
I'm not looking for a new England
I'm just looking for another girl

I loved the words you wrote to me
But that was bloody yesterday
I can't survive on what you send
Every time you need a friend

I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them but they were only satellites
Is it wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care

I don't want to change the world
I'm not looking for a new England
I'm just looking for another girl

Hurray for music...

I have briefly mentioned it here before but not given you all the full impact and repercussions of one of the most unsettling things to happen to me in the last few months.

Yes my CD/DVD burner stopped working! Meaning no more compilation CD's for the car, to send to people, to put programs on or take to peoples houses! I tried relentlessly to fix it, scouring the internet for a fix, updating firmware, cleaning lenses, checking cables, reducing heat, slowing the burn process, frustrating sums it up really. Eventually I resigned myself to the fact that unless I bought a new drive I would never burn CD's again!

The story does not end there tho... I came back to it last week, I could not let it beat me! The only thing I had not really looked in to was power, now no where did it say, that I could find anyway, that power may be an issue but it makes sense that something doing that much would consume a fair amount. So I removed one of my fans, the biggest one (It only had one when I purchased the PC but it kept over heating so I added more) and guess what it's now working! In conclusion, all of the above worked together to fix it but there is not a happy ending, yes I can burn CD's again improving my quality of life no end but if I try to push my machine too far with video (even webcam) or games it crashes because of the heat build up! *sigh*

So that's the back ground of today's post now to the point. The following is the first CD I have made in ages and I have to say it's bloody marvellous with all the bases covered and some John Peel inspiration. It's hard to believe it's been a year since he sadly passed away. I wonder if he is somewhere sipping on a glass of red wine spinning some after life tunes with all the other musical legends? His spirit will live on for many years to come, he was a true inspiration. Your are comments appreciated on this post and any other you care to leave your mark on.

Something About ME...

The week is (finally) hastily retreating in to distant memory and beer is but a mere stones throw away. This has been a bit of a weird week on my little site, with posts covering many wayward topics and very little about me! That's probably why the visitor count has been so high, with 300 - 400 hits a day! I have also posted a lot of pics to further illustrate my points, think I have just picked that up from reading Cyber-Satan's Blog!

Anyway I am going to go cause I am supper busy but... The new series of South Park is on MTV on Sunday evening along with Dirty Sanchez and I can't think of a better way to round off the weekend! Oh and you can download all of South Park by clicking here - Brought to you by Pandairo! Have a good one y'all and one last thing, try and figure this out...

Employment Blogging...

After reading Dilbert yesterday I wondered is blogging about work a sensible thing to do, I actually don't know if you can be fired for reporting about your job in a negative way! I never talk about work here, probably for privacy more than anything else but the question is, shuld I? Is it fair on my employer? Would you and do you talk about work on your blog?

Still not more about me...

I will get slated for this but... I think I am in love LUST (really just as a hit experiment, honest)! Long live the good old American Dream *sigh* Taken from Digital Playground:

Teagan Presley was born in 1985 under a Leo sun in Houston, Texas. She's the oldest sibling and helped raise 3 brothers and 3 sisters. With insatiable energy driving her and an innate desire for stardom, Teagan began training in dance and gymnastics when she turned 7. Even though she relocated to southern California when she was 10, nothing could stop her from training and she performed in national ballet, jazz and gymnastics competitions, including Starpower and Showstoppers. She was a dedicated athlete and became a principle ballet dancer for Dance Dynamics and a co-captain of their jazz dance team. She went on to dance with Joffery Ballet and was later accepted into the American Ballet Theatre. At 15 years old, Teagan Presley represented the United States at dance and gymnastic events in Germany and Denmark. Teagan continued competing nationally until she graduated high school at 17.

Amidst her aggressive training, Teagan fell in love with southern California. She excelled in school; her love for dance kept her away from typical teenage experimentation with drinking and drugs. At the end of the day, Teagan would turn her energies towards the computer where she became familiar with the Internet and taught herself programs like Adobe Photoshop. It wasn't until she was a junior in high school that Teagan began wondering about sex and boys. Curious what all the fuss was about, she shared her first kiss with a close girlfriend at a slumber party when she was 16.

In an effort to gain some privacy from her family, Teagan began working at a Chinese bistro. She eventually was able to move out and as soon as she did, her boyfriend moved in. That changed everything. He didn't carry his own load and began spending Teagan's hard earned money. With rent due and no money in the bank, Teagan teamed dancing with taking off her clothes to pay the bills. Her boyfriend was furious and so was she. To further antagonize him, Teagan put her computer savvy to the test and found a XXX agent on the Internet.

Teagan Presley performed in her first adult video in January of 2004. She loved it and went on to make 40 movies in 8 months. During this time she decided that in addition to putting money in the bank and having fun, she wanted to make a name for herself. The rest as they say is history...

Is This Really How It Is...

From Fast-Times:

Imagine you are happy. Really, really, blissfully happy. So happy you could cry, only you can't cry because you're so happy. Now multiply that by ten. Everyone around you is just as happy. Strangers are friends, and your friends are the most beautiful, lovely, wonderful people in all creation. All is good and right in the world; problems cease to exist. Music doesn't just go past your, it enters you, and sings in harmony with your very soul.

Okay, hokey spiritual stuff aside, ecstasy is pretty nice. Quite simply, having a wee boogie with your mates can be transformed into one of the best experiences of your life. Pop a fairly decent pill at midnight, and after half to three quarters of an hour of stressing about whether you bought a fake, you'll begin to notice a warm, tingly feeling in your arms and legs. It's fairly common for some people to feel a bit queasy and pukey when the E starts to kick in, but don't worry, it passes within 5-15 minutes. At some stage the rushes will hit; waves of warm, fuzzy happiness that'll put the biggest, cheesiest grin on your face. You may experience extreme clarity about your life and your potential; temporarily seeing through the self-imposed barriers that hold you back in life. Pretty soon though you'll give up on philosophy and head for the dance floor. There, the DJ wields godlike power; his selections lifting you to new and previously unexperienced levels of nirvana. You'll feel a strong connection to everyone; you'll be all over your friends, not to mention other random groovers. The urge to hold hands, hug, stroke and massage your dance buddies will overcome you, and feel fantastic no matter whether you are giving or receiving. If you took your E at midnight, you'll typically start to fade off between three and four o'clock. By five, mostly only speeders are left on the dance floor.

Sounds good, don't it??!

From Pocket Lint:

Tea makers PG Tips have joined forces with mobile phone company Orange to create the world's first SMS enabled kettle. All you do is text the words "switch on" - even when you're on the way home from work - and the water will be on the boil by the time you get to the kitchen.

The high-tech gadget - inspired by animated inventors Wallace and Gromit - will be on sale from January.

Bad news is you still have to remember to fill the kettle with water - and actually make the tea or coffee. And it will set you back around £100.

And I quote:

"The Taiko Hat is made of a plushy material and includes a chin-strap to make sure the Hat doesn't fly off your head when the wind blows. When running from derisive attackers, the chin strap will also ensure that Taiko doesn't bound away when its master is scampering over hillocks and grassy fields."

You are funky, outdoorsy, and down to earth.
While you may not be a total hippie...
You're definitely one of the most free spirited people around.

You are very impulsive - every day is a new adventure.
However, you do put some thought behind all your actions.
Still, you do tend to shock and offend people from time to time!

I'm Just A Cynic...

From the DTI

"The adult rate of the minimum wage (for workers aged 22 and over) will increase from its present hourly rate of £4.85 to £5.05 in October 2005, and to £5.35 in October 2006. The 2006 increase is subject to confirmation by the Commission in February 2006, to check that the economic conditions continue to make it appropriate."

I just don't get it, is the idea to get people in to work, off the dole or reward lazy stupid people? The average wage in the country (well the UK) is £19.5k, now to attain that level you have to (probably) get a good education, A-Levels, College, Uni and then work your ass off climbing an employment ladder is some suck ass, god awful office! Well maybe that's just Northern Ireland... but the point is why should people in crap, basic, dead end, no qualifications needed jobs get as much as £5.05 per hour? I think it devalues every other job out there that requires a bit of effort and ground work to be put in!

If you happen to think that $5.05 is not enough get off your ass, get an education, put the hours in, climb that ladder, work 2 jobs, whatever but remember you don't get something for nothing! Otherwise I think that minimum wage should be enough to live on, sure we live in a consumer society and you can't have the best PC, latest mobile or pimped out car but who really cares about that, as long as you get paid, in the sky rocket, down the bookies, drinks all round of a Friday evening. You only have yourself to look after! In the case of having children, tax credits, etc apply and your wages will be almost doubled anyway!

The point of this rant is... If you want more cash go and get it otherwise shut the hell up and stop moaning! If everyone got off there ass and off the dole or the DLA the country would have so much more cash and we would have the best standard of living in the world, along with the best health care, education, amenities, public transport, etc! I say give out food tokens instead of cash to anyone out of work and then see what happens to employment levels, then we can scrap the small business crippling minimum wage nonsense!
