About Me - GAD123

My photo
Belfast, N.I., United Kingdom
I first got on the net over 15 (2009) years ago and have had my own site for at least 7 (2009) of those years (a place where I could dump the misery of my everyday life!), you can see my fist efforts @ www.freewebs.com/gad123 and my current blog @ www.gad123.co.uk . I am a kind person, smart, (I know that is subjective) and witty, the dry, sarcastic type! I am told that I am easy to talk to and am very laid back. I enjoy playing poker, listening to any music, watching movies & American TV shows, love going to the pub, dancing on a Saturday night and am a bit of a nerd as I own a Wii, PS3 and built my own PC! I am a creature of routine, love the night time when all the exciting things happen, am a bit of an insomniac and love getting trashed at the weekends! If you want, you can catch me on MSN @ graham@gad123.co.uk! Take care and enjoy you browse around this GAD123 Page!

Just Super...

A proper club for N.I. at last:

Shine Productions are pleased to announce the opening of their new multi purpose entertainment venue, The Stiff Kitten. Both the Club/Venue and bar aim to offer something new to Belfast: the ability to enjoy real music in pleasant surroundings and be served quality drinks by friendly, polite staff.

The venue has gone through extensive renovations and there are three main areas in The Stiff Kitten's modular design, each with its own unique identity (and also the ability to work seamlessly together). The main and public bar is at all times free in and serves a diverse range of drinks, with Belfast's finest djs at the weekend (and perhaps the odd surprise international guest!!!). The second bar or 'Blue Room' is a more modern, edgy environment and will act as a lounge for the club aswell as extension to the front bar and room available for private hire in it's own right. The third area is the club, specifically designed with the quality of any musical experience in mind. The club hosts Ireland's first Funktion 1 Dance Stacks, which provide a superlatie audio experience. Alan and Phil from Shine Productions went to the F1 factory and met the owners in order to specify the precise audio requirements for the club and the venue at large (all rooms feature a Funktion 1 system). Couple this with installation by industry leaders Locksley Associates and what we are left with is an audio experience of the highest possible calibre The club is perfectly proportioned to host all types of musical acts from live bands through to DJ's and we hope you'll like it as much as we do.

The girl decides to call the cops and claim that the boy had beaten her up. The cops come to the boy's house to arrest him, but found no evidence of any crime. The cops charge her with filing a false claim instead. The boy decides to post naughty pictures of the girl on the Internet.

Not about me...

Two things stick out over the weekend as getting my eyes open, both taken from the Management Today magazine.

"Educashun, eddecushion, edukashon.

Some tricky news from the education pages this week. First, truancy levels have risen yet again in schools: 794,000 secondary school pupils missed some classes last year, up 100,000 from the year before. Second, on the university front, drop-out numbers are rising, up to 22.6%. 32% dropped out from courses at Bolton University whereas only 1% left Cambridge prematurely, which must tell us something. At the same time, a £400 million scheme which tried to persuade more state school pupils to go to university appears to have flopped. Britain’s universities have some serious problems on their hands at the moment. They are overcrowded, under-funded and offering far too many Mickey Mouse degrees which are of little or no use for graduates when trying to find a job. BA has become Bugger All (with Hons) according to some cynics. We’re not education experts here, mere hacks with not a Media Studies degree among us, but we suspect an inevitable movement now towards differential pricing of degree courses. Worthwhile, popular courses that lead to jobs are going to cost students more."

And...

"Espresso, ristretto, macchiato.

Tall skinny latte with wings or just plain old drip, whatever your taste in coffee we all know that caffeine is bad for you, right? That is certainly what the health police would like us believe, caffeine having joined the ranks of nicotine, alcohol, salt and sugar as the dietary demons of our age, linked by numerous studies to ailments as varied and life-threatening as cancer, heart disease and hypertension. But according to a report in this week’s New Scientist, many of those studies linking caffeine to disease were fatally flawed. Researchers apparently failed to make the connection (readily observable in any coffee bar) that a fair number of people who drink a lot of coffee are also heavy smokers. Nor did they account for the fact that those who avoid caffeine frequently don’t smoke at all. So is it the coffee or the coffin nails that really cause the problems? This dilemma neatly demonstrates an unpopular but fundamental tenet of all scientific enquiry, that knowledge is not absolute but rather a continuum along which we are continually progressing. And also that even really clever people still screw up occasionally." Not much going down at my end this weekend, the only other thing I have to say is I came 3rd in two Poker tournaments and 2nd in another two.

Think I had forgotten...

It feels like so long since I have posted anything here and I suppose in 'net' terms it is! Prompted by Emma I will write something today and post a whole host of cool links! Unfortunately I have nothing of interest to say, again as you all know I could talk about how busy work is and that I am STILL not sleeping but hey, who cares! I have taken Friday off to sleep a bit and hopefully get myself back on an even keel for Monday! I am out this evening and over the weekend I am busy Friday evening, Saturday I am 'baby'sitting (I know, I know, it's cruel to sit on babies) my two nieces, Sunday I am going to chill and catch up on all the things I have been meaning to do this week but could simply not be bothered doing! Like fix my DVD Burner, I don't have a clue what is up with it but bar reinstalling I have done everything, so a fresh install is my last hope!

I am disappointed to see the lack of posts by people asking about me but hey I completely understand that no one cares, lol!

Last but certainly not least I hope John gets through the weekend unscathed and if anyone wants to join him at this low ebb just stick on a copy of Snow Patrol, stick the cans on, program Run on repeat and crack open a bottle of Bud!

The 7 P's...

Hey guys, missed me? I have just realised that I have only posted once this week, how sad is that?! I have nothing really to say unfortunately and my visits are falling to about 100 a day! I mean I could chat about the great weather today (I love the rain) or the events in Northern Ireland, how I am up to my eyes in work, that I have been working on this, that I am looking after a friends house while they are on holidays but quite frankly its boring! So you are getting this:

I found it amusing that if you do a find on 'enhances your life' that you get a list of millions of sites and right at the top Ranked #1 is me, GAD123. The funny bit is that I never get any traffic from this search, why does no one want to enhance their lives?!

Last weeks Formula 1 race was very dramatic, come on Kimi Raikkonen, you can do it this weekend at the Belgian Grand Prix - Spa:

Live qualifying: Saturday 10 September 1130-1310 (ITV1)
Live race: Sunday 11 September 1200-1500 (ITV1)

Highlights: Tuesday 13 September 0100-0150 (ITV2)
Race replay: Thursday 15 September 0210-0450 (ITV1)

Anyway I am heading for a quite weekend, gonna play some Online Poker, the new PC games I got (3 for a tenner, bargain), catching up with folks on MSN messenger, hanging with John, F1 Race, sleeping and drinking beer, not while sleeping of course but if I could... Have a great weekend folks and I will catch you on the other side!

Ten Things

Did you know...George Clooney's father was a television news anchor?
BBC's 10 Things
Also...one in 18 people has a third nipple?!
Snippets harvested from the week's news, chopped, sliced and diced for your convenience:

1. One in 18 people has a third nipple.
2. More than 100 tons of ripe tomatoes are splattered about in Spain's Tomatina Festival.
3. The crumbed batter around fish fingers is cooked so quickly the fish inside stays frozen. In all, preparation and packaging takes just 35 minutes.
4. The Spanish smoke more Gauloise cigarettes than the French.
5. Michael Sheard, who played Grange Hill's terrifying deputy head Mr Bronson and who died this week, also appeared in the Empire Strikes Back (he played Admiral Ozzel) and in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (he played Hitler).
6. The section of coast around Cleethorpes has the highest concentration of caravans in Europe.
7. George Clooney's father was a television news anchor.
8. China makes about 40% of the world's socks.
9. And it has around 24,000 coal mines - more than 3,000 miners have been killed this year alone, in fires, floods and other work-related accidents.
10. Road signs in an Austrian village - whose seven-letter name begins with "F" and ends in "ing" - are now encased in theft-proof concrete to stop tourists stealing them.

Playing Poker...

Last night I played Poker Online for the first time, I needed to wind down. I used the offer below if you want to check it out, it gives you a free 25 bucks, instead of playing you can just cash it in if you want, HAPPYDAYS. The whole experience was fulfilling but I only won one game, even tho I had good hands, maybe the luck was just not going my way. Tho I must admit my game was not that tight. I played a .25/.50 game with a $25 buy in. If you are going to have a go make sure you fold everything that is not a stunning hand, bulling tactics did not work for me, suppose that's just cause the blinds and betting were so low!

Dreams and Links...

So I woke really early, like 6.30am on Sunday morning in a state of shock after the dream I had about a friend dying, it was not pleasant but upon investigating I discovered this *strokes chin*:

  • Death :
This is does not necessarily mean death in the literal sense but the end of a certain period of your life, the end of your worries or letting go of an old part of the self. So it can indicate that you are transforming yourself. On the other hand it could show that you are stuck on the routine of life and you need to revitalise your life.

Then last night I drempt of vampires, amazing dream and here is the apparent meaning:

  • Vampire:
Transition symbol, frequently associated with initiation rites, especially the loss of one's virginity. When a vampire bites you, you become “one of them.” Also may be associated with a person who “drains your energy.”

I will let you put these together and see what you come up with. I often have Lucid Dreams and those dreams where you are paralysed, not able to move, half awake and half sleeping, calling out but not able to speak. They freak me out a bit!
