About Me - GAD123

Belfast, N.I., United Kingdom
I first got on the net over 15 (2009) years ago and have had my own site for at least 7 (2009) of those years (a place where I could dump the misery of my everyday life!), you can see my fist efforts @ www.freewebs.com/gad123 and my current blog @ www.gad123.co.uk . I am a kind person, smart, (I know that is subjective) and witty, the dry, sarcastic type! I am told that I am easy to talk to and am very laid back. I enjoy playing poker, listening to any music, watching movies & American TV shows, love going to the pub, dancing on a Saturday night and am a bit of a nerd as I own a Wii, PS3 and built my own PC! I am a creature of routine, love the night time when all the exciting things happen, am a bit of an insomniac and love getting trashed at the weekends! If you want, you can catch me on MSN @ graham@gad123.co.uk! Take care and enjoy you browse around this GAD123 Page!

Sup Homies? I am really posting sporadically here at the mo! Last night I installed the Hercules WiFi USB Transmitter. I bought it on a recommendation from PC Format Magazine and it set up WiFi internet sharing straight out of the box, no configuring at all, just installing the software and plugging in the dongle, amazing. Then I hooked up my Wii (bought Smooth Moves at the weekend too), updated and check out the online content, which is not great but at least they are trying... Kayeso has my PSP so will have to see if that connects as easily but I am sure it will!

Speaking of Kayeso, I'm off to his on Wednesday night for the weekly poker game - £20 double chance - I need a win as my stats are starting to drop off!

Tonight I am off to visit Dimples, Thursday the usual, Friday John is coming over and Saturday DANCING or Wii???! Lot's to look forward to then, peace out folks!

Jeeze, I sort of forgot about posting here, seem to have so much on at the mo and now it's only BLOODY FRIDAY! I bought some new things:

  • * Shelves
  • * DVD Rack
  • * Tony Hawk's for Wii
  • * WPL Shuffle Up & Deal Zippo
  • * Hercules WiFi USB Transmitter

Been catching up on Life on Mars, what a fantastic show. I seen it on TV and thought I should watch it but never really got round to it. You know what it's like when you miss a few episodes, you don't think it's worth diving in to then! Next weeks eps is fab, just shows you how things come around, in the 1970's it was the Irish or Catholics, now it's the Polish or Muslims, all bombing and menial job doing, maybe... Reminds me of the Goobacks episode of South Park where the pissed-off white-trash rednecks keep saying "Dey turk ma jerrrrb!" all very funny but with a serious edge to it!

My E Mail messed up this week but I just got it sorted, server MX issuses! The weekend consists of a charty dinnner tonight and then staying in with nice food, wine, Dimples and Wii on Saturday but now I want to go dancing, lol! Have a good one folks!

OK, so how did Valentines Day go for you all? It amazes me how many guys have not got there GF anything, not even a card... If I had my way I would scrap the whole thing! An interesting stat I read was that teachers will receive the most Valentine's Day cards, followed by children, mothers, wives, and then, sweethearts. You will have to ask Dimples if she was happy with what she received and me, well I am keeping stum! Check THIS out, it's so bloody true!

On a little bit of a serious note, did you read that the UK has been accused of failing its children! It comes bottom of a league table for child well-being across 21 industrialised countries. Who would have seen that coming, BOTTOM for christ sake! The most startling stat (that I can't get my head around) is that UK child poverty has doubled since 1979, HOW?!

Anyway hope you all had a nice day yesterday and you all have someone, even if it's just your mummy, who cares for you!

So last night I decided to get stuck in to some serious customisation of XP, firstly I was a little bored and second because I was just not in the frame of mind for game playing. Vista is finally here (my copy is on the way) but I am worried, not about the OS because it's grand but about the driver issues and it just slowing my current games and software to the pace of the PC I just ditched. It needs more time, so I am stuck with XP but that does not mean it has to look like XP! I have the PC power to really push the boat out on this one! The links to all the applications I used are scattered over the last few posts and can be easily sourced on google. I have had some little problems and still need to finish icons (OSX lol) and wallpaper (Transformers theme) but I hope you agree that it looks good:

Monday again. Weekend spent drinking and working! Totally wrecked today and carrying a wound (gash) from Saturday on my shin. Really down, all my serotonin is depleted! Some video games in order for this evening, need a bit of escapism!

Here we go, confirmation of what we already knew, from the BBC's Website:

Northern Ireland's house prices increased by 36% last year House prices in Northern Ireland have risen more than anywhere else in Europe, according to a new report. The cost of property increased by an average 36% in 2006, more than three times the figure for the UK as a whole. The Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors European Housing Review found the market was proving extremely difficult for first-time buyers. Just brill! The original video, C'était un rendez-vous is amazing but the shortened video for Snow Patrol's - Open Your Eyes is great, check it out:

Video Crime Pays...

Today I want to mention the GOM Player (Gretech Online Movie Player). What a great video player, it plays nearly everything, broken files and all, looks good and has some fantastic features, in fact all the best ones from the contenders and best of all it's free! I have no idea how I missed it before. I have been using it for a month and it's just a dream piece of software, 5 out of 5, I can't even see where they could improve on it! GET IT!

So the UK is named a "high crime" country in a European security survey. Who would have thought it. I mean we live in the top ten best standards of living in the world, a consumer and materialistic society, with rising taxes, stealth taxes, super inflated house prices, migrant workers, terrorism, Asbos! It's just amazing that some people are living by the philosophy 'I cant afford what Mr Jones has so I am going to nick it'! Its probably worse here as Ireland is second in that survey! No wonder at all that people are retiring to places like Spain and France, sign me up for that!

Some Little Stories From This Weekend, possibly...

The weekend was great, trashed with John on Friday, laughed so much at jackass 2 and Dirty Sanches, stayed up playing poker online (the usual) to all hours and made a few bucks! Um... An interesting night!

On Friday afternoon I was in Tescos and one of the girls on the till has a little thing for me or so I thought. She is always chatty, smiley and asks me lots of questions. Anyway she was asking about what I was up to over the weekend and I asked her in return, as you do! Apparently she was heading in to town (Belfast) to go to the Globe and the Kremlin. She ask me was I going there and then kept asking me over and over if I had been, etc. which I haven't. OK, no surprise so far but the Kremlin is a gay joint, so instead of her having a thing for me, she is some sort of fag hag and thinks I am gay! How funny is that!

Saturday was another movie night with Dimples, Saw 3, A Devil Wears Prada (shit movie, so so bad, how did it get rave reviews, Ugly Betty is so much better) and again Jackass 2 (funny, funny film)! Sunday was the BIG Wolseys poker tourney! The start was a normal affair, some of the cards went for me and some against! I ended up at the final table, letting the aggressors come after me when I had 2 pairs and the like. The numbers SLOWLY whittled down and I was in the last 4, 2nd or 3rd in chips but unfortunately time was against me if I was to win because we had only 8 mins left before a chip count! I decided to go all in every hand from then on. Next hand was AK and got no callers, then pocket 3's and the big stack called with KQ. That was the best scenario, a win would have made me chip leader, so the 50/50 race was on! After lots of messing about with flipped cards, wrong cards burnt, etc. prolonging the tension he hit the K on the bloody RIVER! I so felt a win, the luck against me of the last few weeks could not last and I just got my head down and played my game. The difference between 4th and first was £200 but I doubled up and you can't turn your nose up at that. Thanks Kayeso for running another great tournament!

After that I was not tired at all (playing hands and scenarios in my head) and stayed up to watch the SuperBowl Baby! I watch every year as it's a very special event, watched by an estimated 1 billion people. Not a classic match but worth seeing none the less, pity I was not drinking, in a bar or with anyone to share the experience with tho!

Bloody Friday again and a new month, where did January go? It's all got a bit boring here now, it's just me, me, me! Anyway, deal with it! poker on Wednesday was a similar affair to last week, Paul all in with 5c6c, I went all in over the top with KK and Dean called with AsQs and Paul took it with trip 5's on the river, what am I to do? I was miles ahead and again beaten by luck! Over the long term I know luck evens out but two weeks in a row, come on! It's the Wolseys Series of Poker on Sunday, feeling confident and going for the double. Wish me luck!

My fav track at the mo is Just Jack – "Glory Days" the whole album is great and you should check it out.

I see today a temporary Lithuanian consulate is being set up in Dungannon, County Tyrone, to offer support to Lithuanians affected by hate crime. I knew this would happen, who said we where tolerant people, moving forward in a peaceful society! More like we, and that obviously excludes me, are no different than the goby Jade and her race hating buddies! Maybe the UK as a whole is leaning that way with events over the last few years and it's not isolated to N.I. but I just hoped we would be different, even tho I suspected otherwise!

John is over for a drinking session tonight and then I am off to stay in Lisburn with Dimples on Sat. Have a great weekend folks
